'Guardians of the Galaxy' review

So, it's time for what might have once seemed like a pretty big gamble for old Marvel - deriving one of their phase two films not from a hugely established property, a name brand (such as a tempting cash in with a Hulk standalone) , instead we focus on a comparatively unknown bunch for the tenth outing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - the 'guardians of the galaxy'.

Has this gamble paid off for Marvel? Have they got too cocky, tried to fix a formula that wasn't broken?

Essentially - are there cracks in the shiny facade? Does a large ensemble cast work for the film? When is the 12A rating stretched beyond its limits? Can a wrestler be expected to act? All these questions and more will be answered in this week's WHINECAST review!

The Doctor Who Rewatch Podcast #7 - 'The Long Game'

Well, well!

Nestled in the middle of Peter Ecclstone's debut/farewell tour as the Doctor is this surprising gem of an episode! Yes, what might initially seem like a run of the mill/monster of the week adventure for the TARDIS posse has a lot more going on in it than us WHINECAST boys ever remembered and hell, it's a ruddy pleasure!

We've got thwarted teenage romances! There's intrigue, deception, social commentary! There's Simone Peggles, a genuine movie star, as our kooky villain! Not to mention some some sexy surgery and an endearingly surly Ninth Doctor.

So, get yourself a hole in your head, gobble down a cronk burger, smoke some death sticks and step onto Satellite Five for an audience with The Editor!

The Whinecast Boyz couldn't recommend this early work of Mr Pegg highly enough.

The Marvel Vs DC movie mash-up- 'Iron Man 2'

They said it would never happen. They said it couldn't be done.

Well, actually, they said neither of those things, but they did wonder if it WOULD be done. Yes, it's a case of better late than never this month on the Mash-up, as we've taken our damn sweet time in getting round to the third entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe because, would you believe it, some of that LIFE went and got in the way! But fear not, we've now found time to retreat into a fantasy world of robotic suits and sexy Machiavellian aliens, so we're finally ready to once again SUIT UP (geddit?) and get behind the mic!

So, this month, it's the second outing for the modest and low key Tony Stark to take to the skies, but this time he's got to deal with a threat greater than any faced thus far in the mash-up - BUSINESS.

As if that weren't enough, we've got malevolent Russians (like there are any other kind LOLZ #xenophobia), office romances, prostitutes (allegedly), senate hearings (like people loved from the Star Wars) and ScarJo looking simply delightful every moment she's onscreen! But is it a case of two many cooks spoiling the broth?

You know what to do!

The Doctor Who Rewatch Podcast #6 - 'Dalek'

You know that feeling when you run into someone you hate and it's just TOTES AWK?

Well, this week, the Doctor has the same experience, as whilst he's on holiday in Utah, he only goes and runs into one of them bloody Daleks that he last saw...when was it...uh...oh yeah, when they destroyed each other's entire race!

As you can image, it's a little uncomfortable at first, but old touchy-feely-playing-the-field-Rose gets into the mix and, before you know it, it's just like old times. So, join us for the latest Doctor Who Rewatch Podcast - the most uncomfortable Friends Reunited encounter you'll experience this week!

The Doctor Who Rewatch Podcast #5- 'World War Three'

You know how they say flatulence never strikes twice?

No, you don't, because no-one says that and they're clearly right not to, as this week's episode of the Rewatch Podcast heads back into the increasingly fetid halls of Downing Street for the conclusion of the revived show's first ever two parter.

But what can Russell T Dog whip up to astonish us with after last week's romp? Well, for starters, there's more bowel problems - always welcome. Then we've got lots of running. There's some imperceptible shifts between CGI and practical effects. There's the continued rise of the world's most limp twit, Harriet Jones - and we'd be remiss if we didn't mention the dangerous escalation of the already staggeringly oppressive sexual tension between Micky and Jackie.

Sounds like we've got a stew, baby - so it's time to tuck in!

The Doctor Who Rewatch Podcast- #4 'Aliens of London'

In space, no-one can hear you...fart?

Yes, the podcast reaches a little milestone this week as we encounter the first two parter of the revived series, it's also the first episode to spend a significant amount of it's running time focusing on flatulence.

But hey, when you gotta go, you gotta go, right - and there's a host of other non-gaseous treats within this episode. There's the delight of seeing Peter Ecclestone being forced to go domestic (though luckily for Jackie, not HAVING a domestic), there's the introduction of an arguably irritating Harriet Jones, there's the game changing introduction of Earth's first contact with alien life forms - and don't even get us started on the frankly oppressive level of sexual tension between Micky and Jackie.

So, join us once more into the breach - as we infiltrate the very highest levels of British government!
