Mad Men - ‘Lost Horizon’ and ‘The Milk and Honey Route’

The end times are upon us!

Yes, after a final fling back with our old pals at Sterling Coop McCann Erikksun & Pryce, we’re down to the final three episodes of the entire show, so, before the finale airs on Sunday evening (in the US of course), join WHINECAST for an in-depth look at episodes 12 and 13 of this final season.

With Harry Crane marry The Computer? Will Duck get Pete to sabotage Judgement Day? Will Sal resurrect Dr Faye? All these questions - and many more - will be answered as we prepare for the end of all things!

Mad Men and Philosophy: Nothing Is As It Seems

'The Lost World: Jurassic Park' retrospective

We have to go back!!

Because an idea proven so wrong the first time doesn't mean its a bad idea right? And thats what the WHINECAST Boyz thought and so here is the commentary for a sequel a few years in the making. Returning along side us and the dinosaurs, is the man's man Ian Malcolm to help protect the very creatures that nearly killed him the first time.

Many sequels feel cheep or tramples on the first film and with 'The Lost World: Jurassic Park' this could have easily happen. Does this film survive on its nostalgia, is there a solid plot or a better title, could a film had been made about the few weeks after the event of the first film or is it just a romp with dinosaurs that keeps us wanting more? These and many more are questions the Boyz might talk about but to be honest it was recorded awhile ago and i just can't remember!!

So this time there are no fences, a young daughter, a cast of great actors and a T-Rex on the streets of San Diego what more could you want?

BOOK!!!

Mad Men- ‘Time and Life’

It’s almost The End, but have they had the TIME of their LIVES?

Yep, we’re just a few short weeks away form the conclusion of Matty Weiner’s timewarp, and for once it actually feels like that - as the show takes a pretty sudden turn this week as we discover that Sterling Cooper will soon be no more, absorbed into Mccann-Ericsson like water into a spongelike advertising agency.

The times are indeed a-changin’ and suddenly our band of lovable alcoholics are going to have to make some real choices about their future - and these poor bastards don’t even know it will be a jetpack-less future. So, spark up a Lucky Strike and get ready for this collection of rogues to take a long hard look in the mirror!

Mad Men - ‘The Forecast’ review

A storm is coming - a storm of existential angst that is!

That’s right, WHINECAST is returning once again to the hallowed offices of Sterling Cooper Pooper Trooper and this week we’re dealing with an episode that’s firing on ALL the cylinders. Joan is preparing to go on a five year mission to seek out new lifeforms. Don is pondering where he’s been over the last ten years - and where he’s going. But. most importantly, we have the belated and much heralded return of Creepy Glenn, and this time he’s back to claim every last bit of Betty’s hair, presumably to weave some form of shield to protect him from VC bullets in his upcoming holiday in Vietnam.

Has Don ever been more than just a pretty face? Can Kieran Shipka get any more hilarious? Will Ted be able to finish his entire doughnut before rushing off to another casting couch? All these questions and many, many more will be answered, as we review ‘The Forecast’!

‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ review

Bloated. Overlong. Bursting with too many concepts and tangents.

But that’s not Jim Whedon’s ‘Age of Ultron’, it’s WHINECAST’s epic review of the greatly anticipated sequel that brings back together everyone’s favourite superhero team (for all of three years) - THE AVENGERS! Yes, the time is finally upon us and after a monster build up in which we’ve looked at every bloody instalment in the bloody Marvel Bloody Cinematic Universe it’s now time to sit down and take a good hard look at the second instalment in Marvel’s crown jewel franchise.

Can the film possibly live up to its universally admired predecessor? Will familiarity breed contempt? Or will Jim Whedon soar through the sky like Iron Man/War Machine/Thor/The Vison/Falcon/Other, rising to the occasion and delivering a follow up that makes us laugh, cry and have ALL the emotions? There’s only one way to find out, so strap on your colostomy bag for a review that could be charitably described as ‘comprehensive’!

Mad Men- 'Severance' & 'New Business'

Pow! Thwack!

It’s a 'Mad Men' double punch!

That’s right, due to holidays, illnesses and plain old-fashioned LIFE, we’d had to delay our reviews for the start of the newest and final-ist season of Matty Weiner’s sometimes 60s based drama. But these disgusting distractions are far behind us now, and we’re here with two commentary/reviews for episodes eight and nine of season 7 - ‘Severance’ and ‘New Business’.

Will Betty become Surgeon General? Will Ginsberg get that promotion? Will Salvatore announce the New Deal? All these questions and many more will be answered, or addressed, or not - as we dive back into the world of 'Sterling Cooper Draper Later Skater' for one final run of episodes - and we suspect it’s going to be quite a ride!

The Marvel Vs DC Movie Mash-up - 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

So! The biggest A-holes in the galaxy bring the long running Mash-up to a close with their 'Guardians of the Galaxy' commentary. In the final entry in the Mash-up before Josie Windale brings us the runaway hit that will be 'Age Of Ultron' we discuss Marvel’s biggest risk to date (not counting the hiring of the most electrifying man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Robert Downey Jnr). With James Gunn at the helm would 'Guardians' be another triumph in Marvel's production line of hits, or the first stinker in the MCU?

With a line up including a Lord, a destroyer, a tree, a raccoon and an assassin whore, this film managed to surprisingly bring joy and excitement to our cinema screens, and after a parade of critical and financial success it’s the job of the WHINECAST boyz to work out whether this was just a flash in the pan or a true gem to marvel at for years to come.

So, for one last time, we strap ourselves in for a ride through the galaxy on that ever so comfortable barrel the Mr Feige has us over!

'Jurassic Park' retrospective

WELCOME.

To our 'Jurassic Park' retrospective!

Yes, in just a few short months, the franchise that shaped a generation's love of those terrible lizards is returning, in the shape of 'Jurassic World' (starring the new Indiana Jones, Chris Pratt), a film that has the potential to be both wonderful...or disgustingly awful.

So, to mark the arrival of our childhoods crawling out of their graves, we're taking a look back at the film that started it all, the seminal 1993 classic, the first instalment in the 'Jurassic Park' franchise, coincidentally titled 'Jurassic Park'. There are safety violations going off left, right and centre. There are workplace tensions. There is a man afraid of all electronics. There is a very poor attempt at fraud.

Ladies and gents, we have a whale of a time looking back at one of the defining films of our childhood, so we hope you'll join us on this cautionary tale of why it's really quite important to keep your employees happy in their workplace!

The Doctor Who Rewatch Podcast- 'The Age of Steel'

Oho! The Rewatch Podcast returns and, gosh golly, we had such a wizard time in Bizarro World last week that we're going back for more this time, 'cos we just can't get enough of John 'Trigger' Lumic and his philanthropic efforts.

Can Pete Tyler learn to love a wife with hubcaps for breasts? Will Mickey and Jake consummate their budding romance? Will the Doctor remember Annie Lennox five minutes after her death? These are exactly the kind of questions we're going to try and answer, so ready your Walk Man (TM) and prepare to be upgraded!

Are you dying? Got a bad hip? Athma? Hay fever? Then you'll no doubt want to be entombed in a metal suit for eternity and have all your emotions purged!

Yes, this week the Doctor and his lovable scamps are taking a trip to Bizarro World where up is down, black is white and Jackie Tyler is 39. But does a trip to Bizarro World result in a good episode? Well, it's the first two parter of the series and Russell T Dog won't be accused of not trying, as there's all kind of business flying about, including Zeppelins.

We know you want to be part of this, so stick in your EarPods (TK), download your joke and play a trick on your dead Gran!
