The Marvel Vs DC movie mash-up- 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'

Are you feeling patriotic? What do you mean you're not American? Of course you are and, as such, you're going to be flipping thrilled with the latest instalment of the Mash-up, as we're going to be catching up with the world's greatest soldier, the most righteous of the Boy Scouts - it's Captain 'Stevie Rogers' America - and this time he's not facing those lovable scamps the Nazis, this time he's going all political by getting up in our faces with government oversight, rampant surveillance and massive stupid shoot-y warships.

Lauded upon its release, 'The Winter Soldier' was an undeniably huge turning point in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, featuring the revelation that the previously benign SHIELD was in fact just a puppet of the ever shifting HYDRANT. But does the film deserve its highly respected reputation? This time, it's one of the rare instances where the WHINECAST boys have a genuine disagreement about the film - one loves it, the other..uh...not so much.

So make friends whilst jogging, ignore the advances of attractive women and bring down the organisation that employs you - because winter is coming!

We address these questions and oh, so many more in this podcast special - so cook yourself up some ribs, light up your illicit cigarette and prepare to feel presidential with our season 3 preview!

The Doctor Who Rewatch Podcast - 'The Girl in the Fireplace'

What's that in my fireplace? Embers? No, it's some bloody aristocrat!

This week's entry sees things get a bit timey wimey, as we look into the show's future with the first of the revived show's standalone Steven Moffat episodes. Within, we'll find many of the tropes that would come to define Moffat's later tenure as showrunner but, aside from that, will we find quality?

It's an episode that's often fondly regarded in most quarters, but does it earn its praise? Do we view the episode differently after several years under Moffat rule? Most importantly, how do you pronounce Sophia Myles's name? Find out, in this week's Doctor Who Rewatch Podcast!

The Marvel Vs DC movie mash-up- 'Thor: The Dark World'

It's the final countdown!

Yes, we're entering the last stages of the Mash-up now, so it's all Marvel, all the time until the release of Age of Ultron in May. But before that we've got the meat of phase two laying before us. This month, we're schmooshing our way back to Asgard for the return of everyone's favourite Thunder God (though not everyone's favourite Asgardian) , and once we're there we'll be asking whether or not the Marvel posse can possibly match the enjoyment of the 2011 original.

It definitely won't be for lack of trying. There's Peter Ecclestone, guest starring as angry elf Malcolm. There's the incarceration (for a bit) of Loki, God of Scene Stealing. Plus, there's a cave full of shoes. Will our bones shake with the thunder of this sequel's awesomeness? Or will The Dark World turn out to be a Dark Moment for Marvel? Tune in and find out!

The Doctor Who Rewatch Podcast- 'School Reunion'

Ah, school!

The best days of your life, you know what I'm sayin'? Remember that time when the metal dog broke into the dinner hall and started shooting the bat people - Wait, what?

That's right, school is most definitely NOT out (for, uh, summer), as Mr John Smith, substitute teacher extraordinaire, is here to teach us all about PHYSICS and whilst he does it, engage in hunting out those in positions of power who intend harm to children. No, this ain't Yewtree, this is the last of the Time Lords and his travelling dinnerlady getting down to some hardcore sleuthing in the halls of the local comprehensive - but with the unexpected return of an old and beloved face, the Doctor's going to be finding out more than the truth this week - he's going to find out he can be a right careless bastard.

Often one of the best regarded early instalments of New Who, this episode was thrown together swiftly, but does it show? Can you sense the cracks? Is it a school reunion we're glad we went to?

The Doctor Who Rewatch Podcast - 'Tooth and Claw'

Some windy dales, or moors, or something. Some surprisingly athletic monks. And a naked chav. It's must be another episode of the Doctor Who Rewatch Podcast!

This week, Tennant and Billie are continuing their perpetual love fest with an unintended visit to them Victorians and only go and run into the Queen Victorian herself, Queen Victoria.

But, as is often the case with this show, all is not as it seems, as the full moon be waxing and the trouble be a-brewin'!

The Doctor Who Rewatch Podcast - 'New Earth'

Aye aye - it's the dream team!

Yep, we've finally reached the point in the show where Davey T is stepping into his converse full time, and with it the Russell T Dog era is truly in top stride. There's going to be lots of SHOUTING and BIG HAIR and (we're sorry, we're so sorry) references to the incendiary chemistry between the Tennant-Piper duo that's going to be scorching up our screens for the rest of this series, in all its love-it-or-hate-it smuggery.

But enough about this series, what about this episode? How does Rose and the Doctor's trip to Nude Earth (we wish) work as the first complete Tenth Doctor episode? Are there thrills? Spills? Chills?

There's only one way to find out - and that's by watching the episode. Or, y'know, you could listen to the podcast. Do that.

Keep warm this winter, it's warmer on the inside!

The Marvel Vs DC Movie Mash-up - 'Man of Steel'

Well, it's 2015, so that means that this is The Year for the Mash-up project - or, it would be, if Zack Snyder hadn't moved 'Batman V Superman' back a year. But regardless, we're entering the final stages of the project and before we smash through the remainder of Marvel's Phase Two, it's time to examine what turned out to be the opening chapter of the DC Cinematic Universe - 'Man of Steel'!

It's been a long time since we've seen the big blue Boy Scout, last prancing about under the guidance of Bryan Singer in 2006's 'Superman Returns', but we can forget all about that business, apparently, as we're in firm reboot territory here, with the creative team behind the Dark Knight trilogy stepping up to the plate to try and do for Supes what Nolan did for Bats.

Is it successful? Can Superman be realistic? Gritty? Willing to punch a man's head into a dumpster? Find out - in this month's Marvel Vs DC Movie Mash-up!

The Doctor Who Rewatch Podcast- 'Last Christmas'

Merry Christmas, WHINECAST listeners!

But was it really christmas, or just one of your fruity cheese dreams? That's the question on everyone's minds this week , as we reconvene after our traditional festive stuffing to discuss this year's Doctor Who Christmas special.

It's no secret that the Christmas special is often a patchy experience...we've had the whole range, from great, to decent, to downright awful. So where does this year's entry, 'Last Christmas', fall?

There's Nick Frost's turn as the jolly man in the red suit, there's Capaldo on fine grumpatron form - and there's the blessed news that we won't be saying goodbye to Clara for at least one more series - but are these enough to make this a Christmas cracker to remember?

You know what to do!

The double meaning film!!

The Doctor Who Rewatch Podcast- 'The Christmas Invasion'

It turns out the only North this planet has is the North Pole - as this week Russell T Dog has decided he’s sick of Northern Soul and wants a bit of Cockney Geezer - and by ‘neck, he’s gonna use Christmas to do it!

Yep, it’s a big moment for the Rewatch Podcast as we’re peering outside and noting that our garden is covered in a beautiful blanket of ash, meaning that it’s time for Davey Tennant to step into his converse and usher in a brand new age for the revived Who.

But what do we make of the show’s first ever Xmas special? Does it stand the test of time? Is keeping the Doctor (or Doctor Who as *some* like to call him) offscreen for so long a brave, or idiotic move? Will Jackie and Mickey continue their affair right under Rose’s nose? All these questions and more will be answered in this week’s festive edition of the Doctor Who Rewatch Podcast!
